Del Rio offers a variety of attractions for the out-of-town visitor.
Laughlin Air Force Base, just a few miles east of Del Rio, is the largest pilot training base in the Air Force,
and the fourth busiest airport in the world.
Lake Amistad, one of Texas' largest lakes,
offers camping, waterskiing, wake-boarding, nature hikes, and fishing. Bass, catfish, striped
bass, and gar are plentiful. Del Rio is an outdoorsman's paradise.
The Whitehead Memorial Museum is a collection of Del Rio's historical
buildings. There is an authentic log cabin, a copy of Judge Roy Bean's Jersey Lily Saloon, a replica of a Spanish Mission, and
cultural folk art.
The Firehouse Gallery is one of Del Rio's several art galleries and studios,
housed in the old firehouse, city hall and jail building. Celebrate the first
Friday of every month, touring Del Rio's local art galleries.
Ciudad Acuņa, Mexico, just across the border, offers a
wide variety of nightclubs, sports bars, and other evening entertainment. There's also plenty of shopping, and, of course,
great Mexican food.
Historic Downtown offers several antique stores and gift shops, including Buffalo Girls, Milagro's, and the Emporium.
For your dining experience, there are several local and chain restaurants to choose from.
The Herald, Cripple Creek Restaurant, and Brown Bag, each offer a unique dining experience.
